Our attempt to feed our “pets” (the wild rabbits who inhabit our backyard/shed). They are happier eating our weeds.

Tomorrow is the first day of school. I’ll have a third grader for whom this is no big deal and who has been begging to get back to school (and out of the boring house with his boring mom) for weeks. It’s my kindergartener who is making my heart all swirly. It will be his first school experience and it will be a big step for his parents to entrust his diabetic care to someone else. We are in close communication and partnership with his teacher, another teacher at the school whose own son was diagnosed last year, the principal, the head of school, and really all of the caring staff.

Still hard. Still big.

This is the song God sent to my Pandora station yesterday 🙂 and the words that are bringing me comfort:

As I rise, strength of God
Go before, lift me up
As I wake, eyes of God
Look upon, be my sight

As I wait, heart of God
Satisfy and sustain
As I hear, voice of God
Lead me on, be my guide
Be my guide

Above and below me
Before and behind me
In every eye that sees me
Christ be all around me

As I go, hand of god
My defense by my side
As I rest, breath of god
Fall upon me, bring me peace
Bring me peace

Above and below me
Before and behind me
In every eye that sees me
Christ be all around me

Oh, Christ be all around me

Your life, your death,
Your blood was shed
For every moment, every moment

Above and below me
Before and behind me
In every eye that sees me
Christ be all around me

Oh, Christ be all around me

All Sons and Daughters
Christ Be All Around Me

Here we go.
